From NYC to Chicago.

The Boss.

Last night, I met up with my old DI boss/friend from NYC, Dave Chen. We decided to meet at The Lion Head Pub/The Apartment near DePaul University.

Driving to Chicago was a bitch; even though I Mapquested the directions, I managed to get lost trying to find Lincoln Ave. Supposedly, the street sign was positioned at an angle on a 6-way street, and I couldn't see it. I ended up driving all the way to Lakeshore Drive and wandering around the Lincoln Park/Belmont area for 45 minutes.

I finally found the place, and when I went inside, the bouncer said that you can't go upstairs (the bar was sectioned off: The Apartment was on the upper level, the Lion Head Pub on the bottom) if you wore a hat. Hatism, I say.

I met up with Dave and his girlfriend Katie, and -- being the Mr. Moneybags Computer Programmer from Xanga he is -- bought me a beer.

It was good to see some old faces, and Chen (or "The Boss," as I will now call him) even drew this in my pocket sketchbook:

And the Dave Chen quote for the night, "Don't tell me how to run my life... I don't tell you how to... wear your glasses...!"

I left pretty early because I had some work to do, and as I was walking out of the bar, I ran into an old crush and her roommate. We exchanged pleasantries and so forth and so on, and I'll admit, it was a bit awkward -- especially when her roommate started drawing a circle on the palm of her hand. Now I'm not too sure on the lingo, but I felt it was a sign (or perhaps an opportunity on my end, even) for me to skidaddle.

I drove back home content and satisfied, but not before heading out to White Castle and pick up some cheeseburgers.

More photos of last night are on My Flickr. Also, photos from Thanksgiving can be found here.
