For one of my graphic design classes, I was asked to design an energy drink. In lieu of the hip-hop themed energy drinks, Lil' Jon's "Crunk" and Nelly's "Pimp Juice," I created Lil' Kim's "Ho-Blood."
I first consulted some art books on how to draw street/hip-hop stylized characters (which, it seems, are just a hop-skip away from manga art), and I drew a caricature of Lil' Kim wearing her infamous VMA pasty ensemble (I substituted a different fruit for the pasty). I added some Illustrator artwork for the background and colorized it on Photoshop. Next, I printed the artwork onto transparencies and taped them to energy drink cans that I spray painted silver.
For your information, the energy drinks I used were an alcoholic brand called "Ricochet" and contains 6.0% alcohol. The final results were displayed in an art show, and once I get them back I plan to distribute all of these edible drinks to some of my friends -- the alcoholic friends.
So without further adieu, here are the six, sexy flavas of Ho-Blood!
